How To Map a Network Drive – OS X

Please note that if you are not connected to the UONetwork (i.e. connecting from home) you will will need to follow the directions for Connecting Using a VPN Client.

To connect to the file share server while on the university network:

  • Open Finder
  • In the top menu bar choose: Go>Connect to server – (or press ⌘ + K)
  • If it’s not already in the “Server Address” field, type “smb://” (without the quotation marks) and choose Connect

*Note you can add this server address you your favorite servers list by pressing the + button. After you do this you’ll never have to type out the server address again

  • When the next dialogue box opens and asks for a name and a password, make sure the Connect as Registered User option is selected and then enter your Duck Id and password

  • Another dialogue box will open asking you which volumes you would like to mount, select the appropriate volume (for example “Groups”)


  • Once you’ve completed this you should see your connected server in the left sidebar of your finder window under the “Shared” tab
